Woman Gets Hit With $5000 Netbook Bill

Remember that $99 netbook that hit Radio Shack in December? It's an Acer Aspire 3G netbook that sells for only $99 with a two year $60/month data plan from AT&T.

But what about that fine print in the AT&T contract...Oklahoma resident Billie Parks didn't read it apparently, and signed up for the deal. Her bill for the first month of service? $5,077. You see, there is a little Internet data usage cap of 5GB on that $60/month plan; fairly common with most carriers nowadays. Any usage beyond that 5GB a month results in substantial overage fees.

She has now filed a lawsuit against Rat Shack and AT&T, citing fraud, but AT&T says the details on those additional charges can be easily found. The devil is apparently in those details somewhere too...
