Microsoft's Surface Moves Beyond Demoware

Wow. Remember Microsoft Surface, those cool touch screen tabletops that would do everything from talk to the devices you set on it to let you order and pay the table for dinner? Well you will finally see Surface units in action at AT&T stores. AT&T will use several counter-height units inside its cellular retail stores. The company is beginning with five stores on April 17: two in New York, one in San Francisco, one in San Antonio, and one in Atlanta.
The Surface tables will allow you to place models of phones on it and will tell you about the specs and how they compare.
Microsoft has said it is aiming to have the consumer version on shelves by 2011, as much as two years earlier than its initial plan.
